Why this exists

I’m Karol. For most of my life, I couldn’t really smell. Not fully. Scent was background noise I never turned up, so I never cared about it, never thought about it.

Then COVID took the little I had.

What came next still sounds insane: it came back, louder than ever.

Suddenly I could smell everything. (I’m sure there are still notes I miss. But I’m in a completely different world now.) I went deep. Hundreds of scents, until I stopped counting somewhere past 600.

And the more I smelled, the more one thing kept nagging me: someone made this. Someone composed the things I loved. Every great scent has an author, and nobody ever tells you their name.

And somewhere in there, a thought landed and wouldn’t leave: what if I put out a scent of my own? (I’d bet some of you have had exactly that daydream.)

Last year I tried. The bottle, the packaging, a perfumer, the concepts, the long conversations. And then the MOQ stopped me cold.

So this year I asked a different question: what if we didn’t do it alone? What if we pooled our belief and built one house, together, with one goal?

That’s United Olfactories.

I love building alongside people, for something bigger than any one of us. If that sounds like you, you’re early, and you’re welcome.
