Built on the Perfumery Code of Ethics written by Christophe Laudamiel, which was part of why United Olfactories exists at all. We have adapted it to the way we work. Where his code protects the perfumer as an author, ours also spells out how the perfumer is paid and how the price is made.
Every scent has an author. Their name goes on the bottle, out front, and it stays there. The maker is the point, not the label.
We make and back original work. If a form is borrowed, its creator is named and paid, or we do not make it. Plagiarism has no home here.
The perfumer is paid for the work. They keep their name and their creation. We take a license, never the hand itself, and they share in what it earns.
Every bottle is made at cost. The perfumer, the materials, the glass, the box, the postage. You pay the sum of those and not one coin more. No markup. No marketing folded into the number.
When we describe a scent, we describe it honestly. If we say it, you will smell it. No fog, no borrowed poetry standing in for the thing.
We are open about what a thing costs and where it came from. Any money or favor that touches a scent is named. We share the accords, the notes, and the cost. The exact recipe stays the maker’s, unless they choose to give it away.
This is funded by the people who want it, and they get a say in who we make next. No one is sold to. No one is a mark.
A scent leaves the bench when the maker says it is right, and not a day sooner. Not when a calendar says so. Not when it would sell.
That is the whole code. We will keep it short, and we will keep it.
